RN, Nurse Manager - Emergency Department - Full Time, Days

Position Overview:
The Nurse Manager functions as a leader in the health care team and is responsible for coordination of the health care team in the specialty area of Emergency/Trauma. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of both clinical and managerial duties by maintaining a suitable environment for nursing practice and patient care; assisting staff with ethical, legal and patient/family advocacy issues; demonstrating knowledge and clinical expertise and aiding staff to develop the same; and collaborating with the Director of Emergency Services to develop and implement policies, procedures and systems that support the clinical practice of nursing. Holds nursing staff accountable for performing and delivering patient care that is consistent with the organization's Mission, Vision, and Values as well as the organization's strategic plan. The Nurse Manager participates in unit performance improvement activities as well as promotes the concept and image of professional Emergency/Trauma nursing practice.
Essential Functions:
a) Accountable for the everyday management of patient care in the Emergency Department.
b) Provide guidance and expertise to all shifts
c) Assumes responsibility for the coordination of both clinical and managerial duties by maintaining a suitable environment for nursing practice and patient care; assisting staff with ethical, legal and patient/family advocacy issues; demonstrating knowledge and clinical expertise and aiding staff to develop the same; and collaborating with the Director of Emergency Services to develop and implement policies, procedures and systems that support the clinical practice of nursing.
d) Holds nursing staff accountable for performing and delivering patient care that is consistent with the organization's Mission, Vision, and Values as well as the organization's strategic plan.
e) Demonstrate fiscal responsibility for the unit. Works in conjunction with the Director of Emergency Services to develop the unit budget.
f) Work in collaboration with the Human Resources Director and the Director of Emergency Department to provide competent nursing staff in sufficient number as to deliver effective, safe nursing care.
g) Develop and maintain unit QA plans in conjunction with unit staff and provide direction for nursing unit's compliance with hospital-wide quality assurance, safety, hazardous materials, infection control, as well as risk management policies and procedures.
Qualifications & Skills:
a) Education: Graduated from an accredited nursing program with a registered nurse degree and a current Colorado license. BSN preferred.
b) Training & Experience: Extensive experience in Emergency/Trauma nursing care; BLS required upon hire; ACLS, TNCC, ENPC/PALS within 6 months of hire and current thereafter
c) Job Knowledge: Encompasses a wide range of nursing, psycho-social and medical information which includes nursing process, communications and problem-solving, assessment and prioritizing skills.
